Hi everyone! For those of you who don’t know this semester I am studying abroad at the Umbra Institute in Perugia Italy. I am currently on hour five at the airport, the day all started with me having to take enough stuff out of my checked bag so that it would go from 59lbs to 50. Third time is kind of the charm because I was able to get it down to 52lbs and that was good enough for the Delta employee, I will just have venture to an Italian store to get shampoo and soap. Then I spent about 5 minutes taking pictures with my family to avoid having to say goodbye, though it had to come eventually it lasted a good 15 minutes. I thought it was going to be easy sailing once I was past security… that was not the case.
My flight to Paris was scheduled to leave at 5:50pm and arrive at 7:55 and then fly from Paris to Rome and get in at Noon. I am not particularly lucky when it comes to traveling to Europe, that being said after sitting on the plane for over an hour we were asked to de-board due to a maintenance issue. After getting off the plane I had the pleasure of standing in line for over an hour to get my new flight to Rome since I will arrive in Paris after my flight to Rome has left. Luckily they were able to find me a flight an hour after I’m scheduled to get into Paris, fingers crossed this flight can make up some time in the air so I don’t have to run through the Charles de Gaulle Airport. Though I love international flights due to the free snacks and good movies I am going to try to sleep so I can make it through tomorrow.
Since I have been at the airport I have cried five times, twice saying goodbye to my family and then three times throughout this whole shitshow that is Delta Airlines. The trip can only go up from here, right? I am so excited to see what these next couple months has in store for me, I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. I will try to write and post as much as possible, though the wifi in Italy is not supposed to be great. I am planning on traveling as much as I can throughout Europe during my four months there, though two placing I am going to make sure to visit are London and Barcelona (Shoutout to Ellen, Katherine, and Heather). I send all my love to everyone back in the US, I do have unlimited texts so please stay in touch!
Hopefully my next post will be from Perugia, if I ever make it there, I will keep you all posted!
