Kellie’s Castle, Batu Gajah, Ipoh

Kellie’s Castle is a castle located in Batu Gajah, Kinta District, Perak, Malaysia. The unfinished, ruined mansion, was built by a Scottish planter named William Kellie Smith. According to differing accounts, it was either a gift for his wife or a home for his son. The castle is situated beside the Raya River (Sungai Raya).

The construction of this house was started in 1915 by William Kellie Smith but it came to a full halt upon his sudden death in 1926. The solitary castle, looks almost surreal in these wild plantations of Perak, projecting a strong personality and an aura of mystery.

Kellies Castle is now a popular local tourist attraction, with some believing it to be haunted. The castle is situated on the way to Batu Gajah town at the Kinta Kellas Rubber Estate, about a 30-minute drive and 14 km south of Ipoh City.
